New to feed syndication?

Tired of visiting this site for new weblog posts? Don’t sweat, instead, let them come to you as soon as they are published on this site. Here’s how.1

I presume you’re using one of the latest browsers that auto-detect feed content on this site (viz., Firefox 2, Internet Explorer 7, Opera 9, or Safari 3—as of this writing).2

Click on that ‘radio signal’ icon3 on the address bar—there on the right hand side.

Click on feed icon

Browser provides you with an option to subscribe, either via a web based aggregator service (viz., Google Reader, Bloglines, among others), or via an agregator software you may have installed on your computer (viz., FeedDemon, NetNewsWire, Liferea).

Select Service or software to sync

Add it to your aggregator service (or software) by clicking on the ‘Subscribe Now’ button. You’ll first receive the last few posts (say around 9, including the latest). Your chosen service (or software) will then check for new posts on this site, every time you start or refresh your feed aggregator service (or software).4

  1. You may use the instructions, on this page, to subscribe to not just this site, but to any site that provides updated content (or news) via feed. Look out for icons, which represent availability of feed content for a site of your interest. []
  2. If you don’t have one of these modern browsers in their latest avatars, now is probably the time to get one, because in addition to providing good features, they are safer and more secure than their older siblings. []
  3. Note that icons may appear different in different browsers. In Safari browser, e.g., it looks like a blue button with the word ‘RSS’ over it—as of this writing. []
  4. Just like your email software that looks-up for new messages. []
