Wireless neighborhood
Thanks to our kind neighbors, we have internet connectivity, in spite of being wait-listed on a popular ISP, which also doubles up as a telephony and television service company. We are informed that all our services will be enabled shortly, which we expect it to take at least a week more.
The area, where we have begun living, is a virtual wi-[fi]eld. We have excellent 802.11g connectivity and we are able to get our routine chores done. Alternatively, when there’s no network available, we use the cellphone via bluetooth and dial *99# to connect to GPRS and the internet.
Wireless connectivity is obviously fast, and as fast as I’d run my own networking. So, a big shout goes out to my neighbors, whoever they are, for running an open network for the likes of me to share and connect, while I wait for my own connection.

Chetan bhai, Am on the net after quite a while [ after office hours hate to see the computer!] at home. Just remembered aaj sankranti hai and hence visited ur website instead of sending the email. saw ur new home. its good. good to note that u go to ofc on a bike! read a few notes on ur encounters with the ATM’s and the malls! Jan 15, 07 at 11:50so, you are living in holland, not on vacation? Aww! you have a nice neighbours! My neighbour who lives next to me locks his wireless internet connection all the times! My other neighbour always opens it but the signal is so low
Jan 15, 07 at 23:30Well, he’s probably doing it for his own safety, since as you know unlocked networks are unsafe.
That makes me wonder, if I can run a open WiFi for the benefit of others, but also be safe at my end? I haven’t really thought about if such a thing is possible.
