Week in haul
Sneha and I celebrated Sankranti at Rajesh’s place along with Manish, Parag and their families last Friday.
My body is in pain and twitch mode due to last week’s workout sessions and then, skipping it for the weekend. Later, I spent the entire weekend in office, thanks to an ongoing project.
Got hold of a copy of Knoppix Hacks at Kinokuniya, KLCC yesterday. Yay! Sneha says I’m buying too many books and not reading them. I don’t blame her. There are actually three unread ones now.
Dengue is becoming a menace in this part of the world. More patients reported in this month and in the last month in this part of the world. We’re worried. Our neighbours are worried—about getting bitten by a mosquito. My neighbours sample every mosquito that bites them and check for Aedes type features. Uhh.
I’ve been playing around with Lilina, a lovely server-side aggregator (based on Magpie). Not sure why I need this when I can use my public list on Bloglines, not to mention some load-time and bandwidth issues if hosted on my domain.
Plume CMS is out of beta. Lovely admin interface. Looks very clean. It has a wiki-style editing option in addition to the normal HTML. But, it’s not working well on my Windows setup (Windows, Aprelium, MySQL and PHP). No time this week to dig into the code to see what’s breaking it. Ditto with WordPress. Nightly version (1.5 beta) is not working at all on my localhost setup! It’s time for sql dumps/backups.
I’m using Instiki for personal use and MediaWiki for Gateway. Both have no issues with my Windows setup. Instiki requires Ruby (that’s no problem), but opts for a default assigned port 2500. I don’t like URIs with port numbers.
Worked on the site for some subtle changes. The form-based changes are only visible in Firefox or a better CSS 2 supported browser.
It’s been a long haul.
