Wamp
Wamp is my twisted idea of Lamp (Linux-Apache-MySQL-PHP). Wamp is Windows-Abyss-MySQL-PHP. While Lamp is still-on on my domain, my localhost (read: desktop) is powered, instead, by Wamp. In a way, I’ve come to realize that for a desktop (or even for the department’s intranet), Wamp offers the best of both worlds. If you skip the debate over Windows and Linux, the only other different thing is the webserver: Apache or Abyss.
Why choose Abyss when Apache is the best there is? Four reasons:
- Very short learning curve
- Exceptionally easy to setup (ready to go in about 10-15 minutes)
- Remote browser-based admin, and finally
- Very tiny footprint (just 145kb!)
