The churning has started

I couldn’t resist starting work on the new (standards compliant) layout using TopStylePro that I bought recently. After having used a variety of tools for editing (WYSIWYG types, hybrid editors and finally plain text type of editors), I’ve come to appreciate what this new tool offers.

Started on the scratchpad (read paper and pen; the physical type) first with some pixels and divisions defined before achieving the intended look and layout in digital format. I believe I now have a good design, which I’ll unmask much later in July. The layout is just through with a few minor things to tie-in. It validates a perfect XHTML 1.0 Strict at the moment, but there are more quirks expected when I import my posts. Many of them contain a non-compliant mark-up. So, I have some work to do there.

Next to do on the list is to start my #include snippets for the page(s). All this and above will be exclusively for WordPress, btw. Movabletype will only remain on this site until I port all my content to WordPress.

On Gateway however, I’ll attempt a pseudo-cms using WordPress, but only after the team releases a multiblog system from a single console. I could port now, but I’ve got no time for multi-author tie-back, extra forking, clean-up or force uninstall and re-install or plug something that the new WordPress might require to update the existing system. It’s just too overwhelming. It would make much sense if I could start fresh at that time rather than trying now and then trying again later.
