Superficial contribution
Apparently, they [Microsoft] spent 7 months figuring out how to route around the HTML working group, and finally settled on using existing de facto extensibility mechanisms like an X-HTTP header and a META tag. And, apparently, getting some friendly stooges like Zeldman to launder it through A List Apart.
I care much less about Microsoft’s commitment towards web standards than I do about Zeldman’s. Mark Pilgrim says exactly the thing I’d want to, but typically shy away from. Let’s just say I felt betrayed. I also know well that you just don’t replace one bad habit (like versioning) with another; you kick it.
This post is probably my humble way of showing respectful dissent, and let those shoulders—we stand on—know that we’d fall if they shook.
