Plain Vanilla blogs that I came across

Tue, 19 Apr 2005 at 12:53 • Filed under Blog, Themes

I couldn’t resist listing the blogs that I came across using my plain vanilla theme or a mod based on it. I came across these from trackbacks, comments and user queries.

To my wife Sneha and I, it’s really nice to see many users personalizing this simple theme to their taste like the color, banners, image rollers, background images and even the links. That’s just wonderful. Are you using Plain Vanilla theme? Leave your blog address in the comments. Have fun, guys and thanks for using it.

    Thank *you* for making such a great theme! It’s exactly what I wanted.

    I really liked this theme, only reason I’m still not using it is the fact that it’s not completely floating layout. I wanted something *really* simple, and your theme provides that. Thanks for spending time to make a great theme :)

    Moni: Thanks! You have a lovely mod.
    Teja, Nikita: Thanks!

    I’ll put a little more effort in packaging everything that a theme should have, notably, archives and if possible a contact form (if you don’t have it already via a plugin), in addition to a few colored sidebar backgrounds that you may want to switch per your mood swings. I’ll post an update on my blog when the package is ready. So, do keep a watch =)

    Just a suggestion, you might want to create a seperate page for Plain Vanilla so that all updates will go there. Don’t link at the top but place on on the side and have something like ‘navigation’, which lists all pages that you have created, or just links that you wanted. Keep that page updating, personally I’d find it easier that way since visitors who don’t follow your blog much could just land there to find any updates.

    Wow! I saw a number of blogs and your theme REALLY rocks! I feel so bad I am not a techie to use it….but someday,hopefully, I will learn more and then my blog will look neat too :) Congrats !

    Sunrayz: Thanks! You don’t have to be a techie to use WordPress. If hosting a website gives you a headache, lookup the wonderful (free) service from Blogsome. They provide WordPress enabled blogs.

    Love the theme, thank you!
    I’m now using PV1.1 but how do you get the categories to show the parent - child relationship? Mine just come out flat :(

  18. Chetan said:

    Sober: Use the following tag instead for parent-child relationship:
    <?php
    wp_list_cats('sort_column=name&optioncount=1');
    ?>

    Chetan, I just wanted to say that your/my theme rocks and that I’ve modified it for my *new* fanlisting collective too because I figured why change a good thing? It’s just a slight bit different than my blog, but you may click on my name to see it! I have credited you of course (it’s at the bottom of the sidebar ;)

    Thanks again. It’s awesome.

    Hi Chetan…

    Just wanted to let you know that I think this is a lovely design and I’ve finally finished tweaking it for my blog. I’ve removed the navbar and modified the background image but it really is basically Plain Vanilla … I know I could have done better but thanks ever so much… It’s a real keeper!

    Hi Chetan, thank you for this theme. I’m a very difficult person about style and between all WP themes, Plain Vanilla is the best for my tastes.

    Cheers!

    May I add my name to the list? I tweaked font and size and made the header image smaller.

    Like many others, I like Plain Vanillia best from all WP themes. Many thanks.

    Been using your Plain Vanilla theme right from the start because of its simplicity and ease of use. Although my side bar is getting a touch crowded I just love the theme too much to switch! Thanks!
