Pangkor Island

Around 9 pm on Thursday, Sneha started calling a few resorts in Pangkor and Lumut. After about twenty minutes, one of them finally replied in affirmation.

We got lucky. We got our last minute reservation. Our destination: Pangkor Island.

Pangkor is a breathtaking island. Pristine beaches, clear blue waters, simple marine life, exceptionally wonderful landscape, corals, the chalets, hill roads, sharp hairpins, all surrounded by the enveloping sea. Pangkor and Langkawi are two of Malaysia’s best, comparable to Thailand’s Phuket.

There are only two ways to go to Pulau Pangkor: By ferry or by air. Yes, this tiny island even has an airstrip, good for a bird bigger than a Cessna.

The Lumut Jetty and the town center has had a facelift since our first visit, and it looks wonderful.

We spent most of Friday on Pangkor Island. We rented a car to go around and did some hopping around ourselves. We had a lot of fun: on boat deck, on jetties, on the beaches, and the island hopping outboard ride.

Our first visit to Pangkor was in July 2001. We were three then, and totally new to everything. But even years after, we had the same enthusiasm and fun as we had the first time.

I have added a select few pictures of our trip here.
