Oh those shoes!
Buying a pair of shoes is generally a nightmare for me. Now is such a time. No, I neither have two left feet nor do I have more than five toes each. It’s just that I’m a little close to being flat-footed. It has gone uncorrected during my younger years, and later compounded with my serious play for school as a team member and later as a team leader.
So, obviously shopping for that perfect pair is a big deal. I’m fussier than a girl deciding on her bikini or a lipstick or gloss or whatever, when it comes to shoe-shopping. They (the shoes, I mean) have to feel good, that is criteria No.1. The soles need to be well treaded (I watch too many F1s skidding in the rain).
They have to look simple, subtle, not distractive, rugged and wearable at work as well as be part of my casual attire. I hate them in tan, in false or untreated stiff leather. I like them weathered. They should have some padding behind the heels and softer leather on the inside. So, now you know.
My old pair of Clarks are seriously weathered and are about to go the Chaplin way any time now. So, I’m looking for another pair of Clarks — old designs, if they’re still around. As luck may have it, the entire new range of Clarks have been revamped, much to my dismay. Some of the designs are horrific. I wouldn’t wear them on my hands! There’s this other option of course, Camel Active. I tried a couple today. They were good. Obviously, my size isn’t in stock. Oh joy! So, I’m making rounds of all the malls around in Kuala Lumpur trying to find that perfect synonym to Cinderella’s shoes for men. If you find me struggling in one of the malls, a hug is really appreciated =).
And so the search continues.
