Last Saturday, I clocked slightly over 1000km on my Lotus powered brand new Gen2. Barring a couple of minor hiccups, it has been a hell of a ride (I mean, just great =)). I can now safely rave about my machine. The 15-inch alloy wheels provide some great road-grip while the ABS keeps me in good check while braking. Corner handling is great. The Bukit tinggi trip, that we took recently, saw this one climbing over 70 degree hairpins without a fuss. The Blaupunkt audio rack with its steering controls lets me switch my music between the slot-load CD or the FM (has a digital auto-tuner, btw). The four-set speakers seem to provide the right balance of sound and noise reduction, not to mention keeping my middle-ear without damage. The adjustable steering column makes me want to be the Shoie of my Ferrari.. er, I forgot, my Lotus =). Lastly, you’ve got to see my digital odometer panel at night. Beats the hell out of a BMW 525.
Now the cons, yes, there are a couple =). While the exterior looks no less than the A8 or the 525 or even the envied 911, the interior leaves a lot more to be desired. The interior, with racy seats and minimal features, looks more like a cabin ready for a rally and not for a walk in the clouds. I wish the designers had paid a little more attention on this one. I also had a minor hiccup on the keyless locking, that turned out to be a one in a thousand electrical wire slip-out of door’s electronic controls.
With synthetic oil post-the first servicing, the engine revs seem have lost a couple of decibels, not to mention a smoother ride. Can’t wait to touch 5000 on the clock.
