Leaner

Thu, 25 Aug 2005 at 12:24 • Chyetanya Kunte • Filed under Blog

No, it does not mean I’m doing better controlling my body fat. This itch to change something is infectious. But I didn’t want to rip-everthing apart to start new as I normally do. Most of my designs are shortlived. Some of my aesthetically oriented (and rather twisted) brain cells start doing the topsy-turvy dance and I start going nuts after a while. Six months tops.

So, without really going overboard (thank you god, you spared me of my urges this time), I thought I’d take the opportunity to trim down the fat elements on this blog. For the sake of the urge, you know. A couple of minor changes on the sidebar and taking down the big banner that appeared in the header eternally loading (as I sometimes noted while in India on a dial-up connection).

The result is a slightly faster loading blog (not the entire site). In addition, I added a few bloggers that I’ve begun to read more regularly to my blogroll.

So there you have. Some tiny tiny changes for the sake of ur.. oh, whatever.

Update [31 Aug]: In addition, I moved Tag Cloud as well to the archives. Now my sidebar is a lot snappier.

Looks a tad cool now, which reminds of moving my theme back to yours again. ;-)

Leaner indeed. But I kind of miss the big banner in the header. That was an interesting element. Your photo on the sidebar is an impressive add-on. Time I move to wordpress too. Someday soon!

Kapil: Thanks. WordPress is a good choice, btw.

I for one didn’t really like your big rotating banner, good that it is gone :)

Chetan, how did you get to validate your site with the flickr badge? Mine always fails. You are using flickr’s javascript isn’t it?

Suman: The trick is to convert symbols into acceptable [x]html tags. Flickr’s javascript has a lot of ampersands. Just replace those with equivalent characters.
