Help me convert to Divx

Mon, 20 Jun 2005 at 10:02 • Chyetanya Kunte • Filed under Software

I’m planning to convert most of my miniDV tapes to Divx movies (V6 if possible) sometime soon. I’m looking for software (opensource-ware if available), tips and suggestions. Appreciate any help in this regard. Thanks!

Do you really care if it is ‘open source ware’***? OR you need the software to be *free*?

Let’s not use the term open source if you don’t really give a shit whether software is open source or not.

JD: I do care for opensource because I understand free as in freedom not free as in pennys. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have donated money to opensource software that I use.

I asked for a suggestion. If you really can’t, why bother with a troll like this?

That’s going to be quite difficult because DivX encoding requires the software maker license the DivX codec. That’s why someone will need to cover the cost of that, in this case us indie “filmmakers”…
