Google Talk works fine with Miranda IM
Works for me. So, with Miranda IM, I’m connected to not three, not four, but five networks! (Yahoo!, MSN, Jabber (Google Talk), IRC and ICQ. Simplicity and slickness at its best. Connecting to Google Talk via Jabber is as follows (in Miranda) via Forums:
This is what you need to fill in (make sure you check the ‘Show expert options‘ on the bottom left checkbox), on Options–> Network–> Jabber:
- Username: your gmail account (without the “@gmail.com”)
- Password: your gmail account password
- Login Server: gmail.com
- 5222 SSL: Checked
Under export settings, check the ‘Manually specify connection host‘ and fill in these details:
- Host: talk.google.com
- Port: 5223
Because Google Talk uses SSL, you need SSL Overlay libraries. They’re just two files actually. Download from here. Copy ssleay32.dll and libeay32.dll to your miranda installation directory (not to the plugins directory).

Update: And oh, the two tiny files are in rar format. You’ll need Tugzip or something similar to extract them. I don’t know if you can extract them Winzip, which I stopped using a long time ago.
