Google Reader

Oh my god! This has got to be the greatest.

In fact, I came home just to blog this and to note that today’s is that day. Google Reader goes leaps and bounds beyond anything I’ve seen in comparison, be it on the desktop or on the web.

I’m still wading through the features, and it is so awesome. Keyboard shortcuts–a feature to kill for. Man, I feel like I’m looking at a whole new world of XML!

Update: I haven’t had much time all of yesterday and today to look at it due to the burden of work, but this is what I found after my initial hoo-haa:

  • Opml upload took sometime. It should have been a lot quicker. My desktop software does a much better job.
  • The interface is crufty, not all that nice. A lot of quirks with those corners.
  • It really sucked when my this post was refreshed after close to two hours, my desktop software would do this instantly.
  • There are no tools for organizing a large number of feeds. Managing even a relatively small list of about 300 regular read feeds was a pain.

But I’m expecting all these initial quirks would be soon gone, given Google’s penchant for improving their services.
