Gmail as a journal

Fri, 18 Feb 2005 at 21:15 • Filed under Leisure

Set up Gmail labels (like “notes,” “ideas,” “links,” “work”) and create filters that automatically label inbound email (like mail to username+ideas@gmail.com gets labelled as “ideas.”) From there, email yourself automatically-categorized info for future reference and easy searching from any online computer. This must be an umpteenth prick in Yahoo!’s and Hotmail’s rear ends. Gmail users, rock on.

I have been using this system for a month or so. It is really amazing. All I had to do is set up a few filters in addition to the labels and that is it.
