George Michael

I feel sad to hear about what’s happening to George Michael. Sony almost buried him; caught in public gay scandal and now a drug overdose. This was not how the popular figure of the 80s, a chartered accountant by education (for god’s sake!), I thought would end up.

Wake me up before you go-go, WHAM Rap, Faith, Careless Whisper, I’m your man, Knew you were waiting (with Aretha Franklin), Don’t let the sun go down on me (with Elton John), Jesus to a child and Fastlove were some of my all time favorites.

This was definitely not the man who donned the walls of my teen room with Andrew Ridgeley (his WHAM partner), atop the Great Wall (of China). It’s sad.
