Geek generation

Doc says that people that started blogging between 1998 and 2002 belong to a geek generation.

The 1st generation in the blogosphere was the geek generation. The founding pioneers that staked their claims in cyberspace and coded and talked about tech, blogging and other geeky related stuff.

Since I started blogging on the corner of 2001 (October), I guess that makes me part of this geek generation in some tiny way. Heh =)

But seriously, I wanted to start blogging a long time before that. Livejournal wouldn’t let me in because I had no one to invite me, oh boy, and did I beg enough (There’s a reason why 70% of the Livejournal junta is female; nothing against them, but people or geeks who invited them instead of discriminating guys like me as if the likes of me were less deserving…well, you can add the facts to get your own conclusion).

Then, Yahoo! kicked the ftp access out only to paid users. So, I couldn’t publish it to my Geocities account. Yahoo! also didn’t respond to my method of payment for getting a paid account. There was no Paypal yet for me. So, considering all this, and not to mention a dial-up line, most sane person would have just given-up even the thought of blogging then. Blogger took pity on us—the people of lesser-gods and gave us free accounts.

And, here we are now in 2005, the year of consumer bloggers, everything looks merry. Blog-on.
