Feed reader update
I upgraded my personal copy of FeedDemon from 1.5 to 1.6 RC1, and installed it on my home and work computers. The upgrade required me to create a free Newsgator account, which told me that it’s set to expire on November 1, 2007 (the same year my double subscription to Flickr expires).
FeedDemon 1.6’s features are impressive. When Nick Bradbury says not to discount the desktop when it comes to Web 2.0, his words weigh the heaviest, because unlike us, he’s not a howler in the wind, but an amazing developer who provides more than he promises. I am simply amazed by the number of innovative features he continues to add to his wonderful piece of software: FeedDemon. As an end-user for close to two years, I have never been happier with FeedDemon, and I will continue to recommend this product highly. If there ever was one software worth your money, this is it.
That said, if you’re still unsure about spending your money, GreatNews is a wonderful free news reader for your desktop, almost as good as FeedDemon 1.0. All you Bloglines warriors out there, give this software a spin and let me hear your wow out loud.
I have had Great News for a while now (upon your recommendation, of course!) but the only downside is that it isn’t online.

Another one awaiting its flight is the FeedLounge. When this one opens its doors, I expect it to break-through many barriers of today’s feed reading.
Nov 3, 05 at 02:14Thanks for the kudos, Chetan - glad to know that FeedDemon is still serving you well after two years!
Nov 3, 05 at 02:23Nick: Yes you bet, and thanks to you for keeping it in such a great shape and well ahead of the curve. One particular feature I like a lot about FeedDemon is the cache. I don’t have to go online to read the old stuff, unlike the online aggregators.
Nov 3, 05 at 03:09I had been using Great News for a couple of months. Liked it much. But doesn’t work that great behind firewalls. So moved back to bloglines now.
