    @Govind, @David: I did sign-up only to be informed that the machines were only available for those in the US.

    This review makes me skeptical. Not sure if I am keen on the G1G1 program anymore. One of the reasons—I presume—many have not given an outright negative review of the OLPC is because it’s such a great idea, and its concept is forcing an industry to wake up and innovate, while keeping the costs down. I really like this bit from the article:

    Ultimately the OLPC initiative will be remembered less for what it produced than the products it spawned.

    I am sure, if given the choice, the poor kids for which the OLPC was supposedly made will pick a year of decent food, or cottage, instead of the machine. That is not to say many will appreciate the entertainment, but primary necessities come first.

    @David - I do not have point. I just remembered something and wondering over his point of view since he might have played with it as media folks might not be as savvy and not appreciate the efforts.
