Dizzy
The first time I stepped on an offshore platform, it was overwhelming. The platform floor was a see-through as pictured above; most platforms are (reduction of weight is normally the prime reason). Almost all work levels on offshore platforms are grated, except where there are equipment or the living quarters. The constant movement of sea-water below your feet when you step on grated areas is something you’ll need to get used to, and that makes you dizzy. For the first half an hour or so, you’ll step so cautiously, worrying about the possibility of floor-panel giving away.
After an hour or two, you’ll get on as if you existed on it from day one =). From my personal experience when I stepped on Tapti years ago (More info about Tapti here and here).
