When stuff starts to pile-up on your desk, you become a head-bobbing zombie. A piano that plays the same note irrespective of which key is depressed. You react to stuff in relative haste and then go back to the state of latency, once the immediate rush to release something is over somehow.

Such is the result of work overload.
