Dead phone

Well, it died a while ago. To be more specific, the batt died. The cellphone after 3 years of use now looks like it’s much cheaper than a new battery. So, I’m thinking of buying a new one. I’m not crazy about cellphones. The fact that I manage without it (sometimes left at home, sometimes left uncharged, sometimes forgotten on my desk) says a lot about how I use it.

I’m looking for a simplistic phone that looks nice but doesn’t beat me to death with its half-cooked features, that I’d rather do without (a camera that can’t take proper pictures; the FM radio that sounds like noises from a warzone bunker; an mp3 player that has a proprietary stupid stick to stick-up; a pathetic semi-standards support browser or a blutooth (I don’t know what the heck it really stands for), and I’m not ready to look like a man returning from Mars with that funny stick attached to my ear; that’s blutooth?, I’d rather have no tooth at all!)

I am thoroughly confused. I don’t need a camera (but I wouldn’t mind if the pictures are good for a moblog; 2 megapixels would be nice), I don’t need an mp3 player. I do love listening to the radio, so a good digital FM tuner built-in would be nice, apart from some good basic phone functionality.

Have suggestions? Shoot’em this way.

Update [22 Oct]: Thanks to everyone for their suggesions. I ended up buying Sony Ericsson W800 today.

    chetan,
try the Motorola e680i. one of the most decent phones made by Motorola, user interface is surprisingly easy to use and does not require a phd.
decent fm radio, bluetooth (wirelessly send photos, files to your pc, synchronize with the contacts on your PC), good camera, touch screen interface.
only minus is the form factor-it’s a little bulky- but the wonderful wide screen makes up for it…
let me know if it interests you, can try to get you one for a good price…

Hi Rakya: Thanks for the suggestion, it looks a bit bulky, as you said. In that, I like Razor more.

I have a Moto E398. But unfortunately it has all the features that you don’t want and doesn’t have the features that you want. :-) Razr is good, but also I feel it is too costly.

    Chetan,

Test drive the e398 at a store before you make a decision…
if the RAZR impresses you, then pls let me know …
also pls check out the specs for the mpx-220. I use the predecessor, mpx200…
both models are a little dated, but still great phones. easy to use, and loaded with decent features.
(but you probably are not keen on a phone that runs windows, huh?) looks like you don’t like ms too much on your pc….
