An Experiment
Knoppix rules. I never thought that this nifty little CD-bootable version of Debian Linux would come in so handy. I am supposed to feel down—my hard disk is blown away remember?; but I don’t. In fact, working on Knoppix has been tremendously easy. It’s not just me, but even to my wife Sneha who has virtually never worked on ANY version of Linux before (be it HDD type or the CD-ROM type).
The only thing I don’t have right now is the voluminous space that my hard disk provided me. For file saving and for the quickies I’m using a 128MB USB pocket drive. Just nice =) On Monday, I thought I wouldn’t last long on this; but now I beg to differ.
Boot: knoppix myconf=scan (scans for knoppix.sh which is a saved preferences file for Knoppix environment including desktop background, theme, network, xDSL info, etc somewhere so that preferences need not be set after every boot).
