A Wordpress bug?

Mon, 23 Apr 2007 at 15:46 • Chetan • Filed under Blog

I wonder if there is a long post bug in WordPress. My slightly longish post about Earth Day, which I am trying to publish, since last night, is acting funny. When I put <!--more--> tag in the post, it shows the post summary on the main page okay, but doesn’t open the permanent post link; produces 500 internal server error. When I remove the more tag from the post, it knocks down my entire front page and produces 500 internal server error. But Trac says they have addressed it in earlier versions already, which is not how I see it (I’m running version 2.1.3, by the way).

Other posts or pages are not affected though, which is strange.

My Error log shows the error as Premature end of script headers and leaving me scratching my head for clues.

Site5, my host doesn’t seem to have a clue either. Ideas, anyone? You could also check your longest post and see if you can load / open its permalink.

Update: Yes, it is a long post bug, for sure. I just knocked out a small (and less relevant) paragraph, and the post got published.

Update 2: I am not sure if this is a Wordpress bug. Looks more likely like the custom host setup. I have longer posts that got published. This may be something to do with the number of times you query MySQL database in write mode. On the post I had problems, I was doing the “Save and Continue Editing” for almost every paragraph (since it was written in different time spans).
