50 Gmail invites to giveaway

Thu, 3 Feb 2005 at 22:29 • Chetan • Filed under Web apps

I thought this was some glitch, but the number refused to budge in my Gmail account invite box inspite of logging-in and checking a couple of times during the day today. So, I guess I have 50, yes, 50 invites! to give away.

Over the last couple of months, I along with other members have collectively given out over a 100 accounts to our XJBEI members.

Why Gmail? Here’s why (some of these haven’t even been mentioned on the Gmail site):

  • 1GB space.
  • Powerful built-in search (searching mail archive, inbox, drafts, all mail and contacts).
  • Categorize email by labels (or sub-folder like).
  • Conversation style of messages (threads by subject).
  • Unread messages via Atom / XML feed (you can read message summary via a feed reader software. More details here.
  • Powerful spam filters (grows intelligent via collective information marked from all other users; so virtually no spam).
  • POP access (i.e., choice to use Outlook Express, Eudora, Thunderbird, et al).
  • New mail notification by Gnotify software (free; also by Google).
  • A great customizable Contact manager.
  • Save Drafts, just like in your desktop software.
  • Autoconfiguration POP script by Google (run this program and it gives you a wizard like interface to setup for POP access (i.e., Outlook Express, et al).
  • Autoforwarding to another email address of choice.
  • Then, there are email hacks that can convert a Gmail account into a virtual hard drive on the internet and many many more features (try a search for Gmail in Google).

Leave a comment if you want an invite. First come first serve. Be sure to provide me your first name, last name and an (preferably non Yahoo!, non Hotmail) active email address for sending your invitation (I say non-Yahoo! and non-Hotmail accounts because I’ve heard about some people not receiving Gmail invitations on those).
